The Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire is built for real highway use. With a Load Range C rating and a 990-lb maximum load at 90 psi, it’s designed to handle long distances without building excess heat. The radial construction places cords at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel, reducing rolling resistance and boosting tread life. Rated for speeds up to 81 mph (speed rating M), it delivers steady performance mile after mile.
Durability is the highlight here. This tire uses double steel belts and double polyester cords reinforced with a protective nylon overlay. That layered build helps prevent tread separation and keeps the sidewalls firm under load. The rubber is bake tested—a process often reserved for automotive tires—to make sure it holds up over time.
Radial tires like this one flex more than bias plies, which means less heat buildup and smoother tracking at highway speeds. The standard tread design with solid ribs runs quiet and stable, while tread depth bars give a quick visual cue when it’s time for replacement. It’s designed specifically for trailer use, so you get predictable, straight-line stability on the road.

Perfect fitment matters when replacing trailer tires. This tire fits 12" x 4" rims, measures 4.84" wide, and has an outer diameter of 20.63". With its Load Range C classification, ply rating of 6, and DOT-compliant build that exceeds FMVSS standards, it’s a dependable highway option that’s easy to match to existing wheels.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

This spare tire fits my trailer mounted manlift, and my son’s 30’ RV trailer. Used it for a short period while I got a new replacement tire. No problems, it’s cheap insurance against getting stranded.

Since trailer tires are built with a thicker side wall they are designed to take a heavier load so they dont really have a mileage rating. Most trailer tires last 5-6 years before they should be replaced. However, there a few reasons for failure. Heat buildup is the leading reason for blow outs so it is a good idea to keep your trailer under the weight capacity of the tires. Overloaded tires allow for heat build up which leads to blow outs. These tires also require max PSI at all times. If they are underinflated tires also leads to heat buildup.

After a year tires are wearing great on the trailer. These are the best tires that have been on the trailer. A couple thousand miles on them so far. Definitely will put another set of them on the tear when these wear out.
